  How to Rotate Your Tires

How you drive, road conditions, the weather ... all these and other factors will influence how your tires wear. They'll last longer if rotated regularly.

  1. To make sure your tires wear evenly and last longer, rotate them as indicated by the vehicle and/or tire manufacturer.

  2. Tire rotation usually involves moving tires front to back and left to right on the diagonal.

  3. Since this process involves removing more than one tire at a time, the easiest and safest way to rotate your tires is having the Quality Care technicians at Ron Rush Lincoln Mercury dealership do it for you.

While maintaining your vehicle is important, there's nothing more important than your safety. If you're going to work on your car or truck, please follow these general safety guidelines.
  1. Do not work on a hot engine.
  2. If you don't need the engine on, turn it off.
  3. Many cooling fans are automatic and can kick on even with the engine off. To disable it, disconnect the negative battery terminal before working near the fan.
  4. If you have to work on your vehicle when the engine is running, tie back long hair and avoid wearing loose clothing, jewelry or anything that could get caught up in moving parts.
  5. Don't work on the vehicle with the engine running in an enclosed space unless it is well ventilated.
  6. Keep all lit cigarettes, open flames and other lit material away from the battery and all fuel-related parts.
  7. Set the parking brake and ensure the gearshift is securely latched in park.
  8. Block a tire to prevent the vehicle from rolling unexpectedly; a brick works well.
  9. Do not start the engine with the air cleaner removed and do not remove it with the engine running.
